Installing FreeBSD 12.1 on XPS 8930
I have been trying to install FreeBSD 12.1 from a CD onto an XPS 8930. I had to disable secure boot to get the installation CD to work. The problem is that almost as soon as the installation CD starts up, the following message is repeated ad infinitum on the screen:
uhub_reattach_port: giving up port reset - device vanished
It is not possible to complete the installation. Is FreeBSD not compatible with this PC? If it isn't, I have a semi-expensive paper weight.

Unfortunately, Dell never tested FreeBSD. On the XPS 8930, Dell only tested/validated Windows 10 64-bit. You will need to get support from the FreeBSD Forums.

Seems like a known bug in v12. Read this.
You might want to try v11.3.
