Questions about XPS 8900 Upgrade to 4k

My PC came with the nVidia GTX 745 which supposedly supports 4096 x 2160. Is that correct?  I assumed I would have to upgrade the video card to something newer in order to use a 4k monitor.  I don't think this has the display port connector and isn't that required for 4k or will HDMI work?  I was thinking about something like the P2715Q monitor. What is the best card for a reasonable price? I am not a gamer but wanted upgraded performance for graphic programs such as Lightroom and Photoshop.

Thanks for any help.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is it doesn't matter if you game in 4k, but if your rendering photos and videos in 4k you need a graphics card that can handle it. Your looking at a 1060 for stills and a 1070 for video. Can your 8900 handle one? Maybe. It depends on if you have a good enough Power Supply.

The entry level Dell OEM Nvidia GTX 745 can do the following resolutions =
HDMI 1.4a 1920x1200 60Hz or 2560x1440 <60Hz
DVI-D SL 2560x1600 60Hz
VGA 2048x1536 60Hz

Consider upgrading the power supply to run those better video cards beamermt79 mentioned. Retail power supplies customers added to replace the Dell OEM 460w power supply =
Corsair AX760
Corsair AX750
Corsair CS750M
Cooler Master 750
