Studio XPS 8100, GTX 970, PSU compatible upgrade

I have an older Dell XPS 8100 with an Inspiron 580s motherboard, i5 CPU and no graphics card. I recently came into possession of an EVGA GTX 970 GPU, but the power supply isn't modular and doesn't have a 6+2 pin connector for it. I've seen the Corsair cx650M and EVGA supernova 750 B1 in some threads as a good XPS 8100 case replacement, but the discussions were a bit older and I'm not sure if they're compatible with the GPU. What is a good PSU replacement?

Extra points if the PSU replacement is also compatible with//has enough power for a z87 sabertooth motherboard and i7 4770/4790 CPU (which I will be getting in a few months).

So, like I said in a previous message, I went out and bought the Corsair cx650m power supply. It does fit into the case perfectly, like older posts said. It also seems to run my computer and GTX 970 graphics card fine. It's not silent or super quiet, but it's not sounding like a rocket about to take-off (aka my console). I am still concerned about whether it will be compatible or enough juice for my upgrades I have planned over the next month or two, but I guess I'll have to wait and see.

Dell XPS 8100 with an

Inspiron 580s motherboard.

580S and STUDIO XPS 8100 are not the same.  They are in fact completely different in all respects.

Its not clear what you are saying.

580S would not take a full size power supply so you would need to have the cover off and the Power supply outside the case.

EVGA 700BR and Corsair CX750M work in Dell towers including XPS 8100.

CX650M is TOO SMALL.

the motherboard says inspiron 580s on it and the computer case is xps 8100. I went out to get a cx650m and it fits into the case perfectly. It also (seems to) connect into the motherboard perfectly. I'm currently hooking everything up.

nobody on earth knows your future wattage demands,  ?

the fans come in 3 types.

1: direct fan tiny and noisy , huge fan slow and quite.

2: thermal fan, does what need to do based on REALITY of heat inside the PSU.

3: fan tables, like my fancy,  DSP PSU has.

PSU (atx generic) have may power ratings, from 300watts to 1600watts.

and they have 3 types of fans (noise topic)

1: huge fan runs slow and with curved, blades as seen on atomic submarines.  quiet but run full speed

cheap PCU with small tiny fans make tons of noise,

2; then some run not hardwared fans (inside PSU) they have simple thermal, control  board hotter is faster fan.

3: and my DSP PSU, has this amazing fan speed control table I can change to any thing I want. by default mine runs 0 fan RPM until 20% load is reached (watts used)

end PSU 101
