XPS 8300, HDD issue, 2nd not spinning up

i have a stock xps8300 with 2 hdds, 1 for os and main storage and 1 for extra storage. when windows goes into idle mode and powers down the drives the second 1 dosnt spin up again when attempting to access stuff in it. only way ive found is restart pc. any ideas on how to fix?

reset windows for other reasons and that fixed it 🤷‍

have you tried to enter Windows power management to adjust when hdd will shut down during sleep/hibernation. try never shut down and see if that makes a difference.

On Startup tap F12 run the epsa diagnostics. Also download Crystal Disk Info. Here  clicking here is a direct download to the exe it is safe from Crystal Info site. I posted this because you need the standard version not the nonsense anomie version.

Or maybe just disable Hibernation and Hybrid Sleep in the active Power plan on the Advanced Power Settings screen.

Disabling Hibernation may also work. But what got my attention is the drive not spinning up.
