XPS 8700, onboard NIC card, specifications?

Im fixing to get internet at my house but not sure if my pc can handle gig speed internet and if not what card do i need to buy

Well, don't worry ...it can handle it.  PDF Specs say 10/100/1000 NIC ... so you are all-set.

Wired is always better than WiFi. Good work!

Yes, the XPS 8700 on board NIC will handle speeds up to 1 Gb with no problem.  As long as your ISP's modem/router supports RJ45 connectors, you are golden! 

My 8700 is sitting in a corner staring at me, wondering why I replaced it...
