XPS 8900, reimage, Windows 10

I can't reimage this PC. When I go to Troubleshoot\Recover from Drive and starts process, gets to 88% and then quits!  I can get to a DOS C: prompt on the hard drive and all the hardware checks out, but can't load Win 10 from the CD.  (computer had Win 7 but could only boot in Safe Mode: change Boot List Option from Legacy to UEFI).

Hmmm.  How old is the CD you are using?

I would go to Microsoft website and download a fresh (clean, current) version of the O/S to a USB key and install from the USB.

Microsoft Routinely Kills off versions of windows.

The Current Supported Version is April 2018 version 1803.

Go here to see the steps to create installation media (USB flash drive or DVD) you can use to install a new copy of Windows 10, perform a clean installation, or reinstall Windows 10.

1507, 1511, 1607, 1703, 1709

we are sticking a fork in them they are done.

This means Microsoft will not support you either.

Only if you $$$PAY for Long Term Support can you keep the same

version year after year.
