XPS 8910, power button blinking amber light

So the PC was working fine then I shut it down and opened it several hours later, it stopped working and I noticed that I get blinking amber light in the power button. I checked to see the PSU test switch and the light wasn't turning green. What could be the problem here?

After an hour I tried it again, miraculously, when I tried the PSU test switch and It went green. I started up the computer and it booted but only for like 10 seconds then it shutdown on its own. It never started again after that. The PSU test switch never shows green too anymore.

It appears that the PSU (power supply unit) is (intermittently) failing. Below are the Dell part number for validated PSU. Just search the web for the 5 digit part number =
1C6CK 350w Delta
XD17F 350w Acbel
15D8R 350w Liteon
DM1RW 460w Acbel
PK61K 460w Acbel EPA
WC1T4 460w Huntkey

Can't I just use my EVGA 500w 80 plus PSU, instead of those?

I still don't understand, I'm not really a techie so can you please look at my model https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=100-W1-0500-KR

And verify yourself if it's going to be compatible? Thank you so much for trying to help.

"And verify yourself if it's going to be compatible?"
We cannot because we never tested it. We only tested our PSU. You will need to search for other XPS 8910 users who have installed EVGA PSU. Or simply try it since you have the EVGA 500w 80 plus PSU there on hand.
