XPS 8920, Realtek driver update, echo

I recently applied Dell recommended updates to my PC, which included a realtek audio driver update.

As a consequence, the sound from my PC has changed for the worse. All sounds are "echoey", particularly spoken youtube videos.

I have checked all settings and ensured all audio enhancements are off.

Has anyone else had this problem, and how have you solved it?

Looking for tested solutions only, not speculation.

Cheers

Re: Sound problems after Realtek audio driver update - echo

I uninstalled the Realtek HD Audio Driver in Control Panel which seems to have fixed things. Was the update tested before being recommended? Hope this helps other puzzled users.

I installed it with no problems

Dell XPS 8920 silver edition
7th gen i7 Intel CPU
Samsung 850 evo SSD for boot
Added front fan
16gb of memory
AMD video/graphic card
I buy a new Dell every 4 years for the last 25 years
