XPS 8930, APE 10 crash on opening Panorama

I had XPS 8300 and upgraded to Windows 10 Pro. I used APE 10 (Adobe Photoshop Elements 10) and worked perfect. Now, I got XPS 8930 and the OS is same, Windows 10 Pro. I uninstalled the APE 10 in my old computer and deactivated. I installed it to my new computer, XPS 8930. However, if I choose Panorama or System, it always crashes. The APE 10 should be compatible in Windows 10 because I was using it. I did changed folder permission and changed name of folder, but they don't help me at all.

Can't I use Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 in XPS 8930?

Older software needs legacy drivers and Legacy directx 9 june 2010 installed.  Legacy DOTNET 2.0 and 3.5 must also be installed.

I tried to install DirectX 9.0, but can't. My Old PC was XPS8300 and installed Windows 10 Pro. It worked well for Adobe Photoshop elements 10. I see some differences.

XPS 8300. When I uninstalled APE 10, the folder of APE 10 remained. Then, I tried to reinstall again. I got a message to remove the old folder or choose different folder. So, I delete it and reinstall.

XPS8930 When I reinstall it, the folder also is deleted. Reinstall is no problem.

XPS8930 is what I am using now and can't use APE10. Can it be a clue?

Adobe Support and the various Adobe forums is the best place to get help with installing properly and running older Adobe software on Windows-10 (64bit).

See here and here

That said, we can try to help you also.

Getting older Adobe software running on newer Windows can be tricky for some reason. Oldest Adobe Elements (PhotoShop, Premiere, whatever) I have seen run on Windows-10 is version 14. Your v10 is very old so maybe you are ready for an upgrade?

To get v10 installed, you can try a clean-install of it.
- The existing install should be properly un-installed and computer rebooted.
- That folder might need its permissions restored to default before it can be removed.
- Clean-install PhotoShop Elements v10 (possibly in Windows-7/8 Compatibility Mode).

Be sure the Compatibility Settings are set on program Shortcut or Icon (before you start it).

If it's still not working, you might have to install Adobe's latest/final upgrade/patch for PhotoShop Elements v10 before it will run 100% properly.

@Groundhoggie

Have you tried the latest version of Nvidia's "Studio Driver." They often play nicer with Adobe products than the "Game Ready Driver."

I tried a Nivida's Studio Driver. There seems some problems. It says my system requires a DCH package. If I see the system configuration, it says the driver's type DCH and I think I did what recuired. But, I got same error message.

I have to say what I said again. Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 was working on my old PC, XPS 8300, and it is Windows 10 Pro 64bit. I am using the same OS. The difference is I had to upgrade Windows 10 from Windows 7 on XPS8300. I don't have to on XPS8930. More difference are different graphic device, different Hard Drives, and CPU and maybe more.

I have two APE 10 and 15. Why do I keep Elements 10? That has the Manual Panorama Mode, but newer versions don't (except 11). APE 10 seems working except panorama mode or viewing system configuration. If I can't use the manual panorama mode, there is no reason to keep this old App.

nope, this is what I saw before.

1. And I'll have to say what I said again.

Getting older Adobe software running on newer Windows can be tricky for some reason.

I say this from experience, troubleshooting a few incidents over the years.

2. Good. You should only run APE-15 on Windows-10. If a feature is not working, I suggest you either:
- Troubleshoot with Adobe
- Use some other utility or app for the Panorama piece of the work-flow.

3. I think APE v10 is just too old to be still supported ... especially not on a new/current OS.
