XPS 8930, Intel RST software
XPS 8930, 8th Gen i3-8100, came with the Intel RST software pre installed (Jan 2018). Do I need to do anything else beside installing the Optane chip and run the software afterward.

I am confused by your post. Are you adding a 3rd party Optane memory module or drive?

Umm.
If you have an empty M.2 slot on your motherboard and are looking for speed ... it's likely not Optane that you want, but instead ... a (now-days common) 240gb-512gb M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD as bootable C:.
