XPS 8940, Intel Corporation Extension 3.1122.329.2

XPS 8940

XPS 8940

This Windows update just showed up today. No idea what it is for or whether safe to install. Any help?

The update in question is part of the motherboard Intel chipset (an extension for the Intel Management Engine) for the hardware in your computer. Notice the XPS 8940 drivers page mentions 7 chipset drivers. 5 are for Intel. Do you have to install it, no. Especially if the XPS 8940 is currently running well.

Thanks, Chris.  Would be interested in knowing if anyone else with an XPS 8940 has installed this update.

Same Intel Corporation - SoftwareComponent - 3.1122.329.2 got installed on my XPS 8930 (Win 10) back in June.

I also couldn't find out anything about what it does/updates/fixes...

No obvious problems, and no errors reported in Windows Event Viewer...

Thanks, Ron.   I went ahead and installed the update with no obvious adverse affects.

This also updated on my XPS8930 in June. First the extension, then the software component a week or 2 later. Both had same numbers just one said extension and one said software component. In device manager under software component, it is for the driver for the Killer Networking Software.
