9360 frozen on dell logo
Hi
I have a 9360 that has decided to freeze on the dell logo.
1st time it happened it was on battery. I put it back on mains and managed to get it to f12.
ran the tests ( not the full memory) and they all passed. Laptop started fine.
This afternoon I had a blue screen error and it started to check for errors but just sat at 0% so I powered down by holding the power button.
Since then I haven't been able get past the dell logo.
I have tried the following:
Disconnect the main battery and the cmos battery and hold the power button.
Go into the bios switch from raid to AHCI, save settings reboot and then start again and change back to raid.
I have problems with that as it seems not to want to go into f2 mode after that change unless i unplug the batteries again.
I removed the ssd to see what happened and it started up and said that there was no ssd installed.
So i reinstalled the ssd and managed to get into the f2.
When i checked the configuration it said there was no sata drive or ssd
I removed the ssd and repeated above and the results were the same. Does this suggest the ssd is faulty?
To add weight to this when i powered up again (with the ssd installed) i got the no ssd installed . (though it has since not done this any more.)
Any ideas on what is causing this and how to cure it?
If i get time tomorrow i will try to boot it from a windows bootable usb
update
I managed to get to the f12 diagnostics and it said no hard drive was installed.
so i am kind of going with the fact that the ssd might have died.
Any way to confirm this?
If i do have to replace the ssd whats the recommended brand/model?
many thanks in advance
Andy
