Battery problems on XPS 9350
I've been battery trouble with my XPS lately. Here is relevant information:
2-3 years ago: Purchased laptop new
One year ago: Damaged charger. I now have to bend the cord to charge.
Last month: Even with sleep mode enabled on lid close, hibernation mode is always used. This happened immediately after a windows update.
Last week: Laptop is discharging at active rates when lid is closed. I now need to keep it plugged in.
Also last week: Occasionally major discharges. On battery saver mode, I watched it jump from 33% battery to 7% within a minute.
Please help me troubleshoot this. Thanks!

I believe you'll find the two issues are tied to the main one - that the battery isn't holding a charge sufficient to keep the system in sleep mode - and that it's rapidly draining no matter what load is placed on it because the cells in it are at the end of their normal lifespan.
If the battery is charging completely but draining rapidly, it needs to be replaced.

The battery and adapter are separate issues -- if the plug on the adapter is damaged, replace the adapter with a new one.
The other issue is simply a battery at the end of its life -- they're good for 300-500 charge cycles or 18-24 months before they lose capacity and need replacement - it's time for a new battery; yours is at the end of its lifespan.

The age of the battery and the rapid drain on it are conclusive evidence of a battery at the end of its normal lifespan.

Thanks for the info.
What are the signs that lead you to believe my battery is at the end of its lifespan?
Is a dying battery related to my laptop's inability to enter sleep mode?
Is a dying battery related to the problem of my laptop losing charge while in hibernation mode?
Thanks

Ok thanks for clarifying. So of the 3 problems i've listed, you solved one (random % drop/quick drainage). Any thoughts as to why the battery is draining during hibernation mode? Or why the laptop cannot enter sleep mode, and defaults to hibernating instead?
