Charge 9360 using usb-c?

I'm expecting my new to me 9360 on Thursday and it doesnt come with a charger.  I have ordered one from dell and it gets here Friday.

Can I charge the 9360 with usb-c?

Re: Charge 9360 using usb-c?

@rljaszczyk  Yes.  It's designed for a 45W power source.  It can receive that at either 20V and I think also 15V if your charger doesn't support 20V output (but if you haven't bought a charger yet, get one that supports 20V just for better compatibility.)  You can connect a higher wattage charger if you want and it won't damage anything, but it won't take advantage of the extra power either.

@jphughan   Ok. So I do have a 65w dell charger. From what I understand you said above, I can use it to charge the xps 13. Nothing bad will happen...correct?

@rljaszczyk  Correct. My wife has an XPS 13 that she charges from a variety of third party USB-C chargers that have outputs ranging from 60-90W, and her system works fine with all of them.

@jphughan hi. I'm actually referring to the regular charger,  not a usb-c charger...does the information still apply?

Thank you for your help!

@rljaszczyk  As long as you're using Dell chargers, you'll be completely fine.  For the barrel style charger, Dell systems can identify the wattage of the attached power source.  I've had a 130W Dell charger in my living room for years and have used it with Dell systems designed for anywhere for 45-130W and it's been fine with all of them.
