DELL XPS 15 9570 not recognizing 56 Wh battery
I took delivery of a brand new Dell XPS 15 9570 some weeks ago.
It came with the 96 Wh battery as configured.
In my use case I have embarked on reconfiguring this machine for dual hard drives.
I bought a DELL kit with the 2.5" drive bracket, cable and mounting details,
and ordered the 56 Wh battery. I had noi issues installing this, all went fine.
But upon power on I get a warning page saying that the battery is not recognized as a valid DELL battery, and boldly directs me to a dell.com/batteries page that doesn't exist anymore. The fact that DELL fails to direct me to a place to order what they claim are genuine batteries can give reason to question the age of that URL.
When I run the Windows 10 Powershell command
powercfg /batteryreport
I get the following response:

That report seems to get some decent info about the battery.
Maybe the XPS15 is hardcoded in BIOS to only accept the battery model (96 Wh)
that is its stock configuration ? I see if I quote my Service Tag at a shop that sell batteries
only the 96Wh battery came up as matching. I want more flexibility.
I want it to be possible to use that 56 Wh battery.
DELL makes XPS 15 variants that come with dual hard drives and that battery
so I see no reason why there would be such BIOS constraints ?
Please advise the best option.
Probably what could enable this is if DELL produce a BIOS upgrade that
treat both battery capacities as a valid battery. I am willing to ship my laptop to any DELL service
center in the world who will offer to reconfigure my XPS 15 so it accepts the 56 Wh battery.

I'm also trying to do this. I am cloning my old hard drive to a new 2.5" SSD and have used its caddy (I had a 9550) and the 56wh battery (which is thankfully only a few months old).
I hope that the XPS 15 isn't limited in this way, because they have kept the same chassis and SATA HDD port in the newer 9570 model.
I will try to reset the battery sensor as described in the ncconsumer.org article, but failing that, I would like to ask Dell directly why they have deprecated support for 56wh batteries (the internal 2.5" and SATA port work as expected).
