Dell XPS 15 7590 still running Windows 10 Pro 1909

Hi,

I have a Dell XPS 15 7590 for a bit more than two years.

I am surprised to never get upgrade proposition for Windows and be stuck with 1909 despite having 2004 on the market since may 2020 and now more recently 20H2.

End of service for 1909 is scheduled for 2021-05-11

I understand there is always a risk to install a new version of the OS but here this is more or less a year.
I'd like to get at least the choice.

What's wrong with my configuration ? Why my computer is not kept up to date ?

Any update on this? It's past EOL and I'm still stuck on 1909. Now Windows Update says "You're not up to date" and "Your device is missing important security and quality fixes." but "Check for updates" doesn't fix it.

This is totally ridiculous. Still stuck on 1909.
I'm really tired of this type of issue. I'm so sick of the lack of support I've gotten for this machine.

Take a look at this thread regarding the 7590:

https://www.dell.com/community/XPS/Dell-XPX-15-7590-cannot-upgrade-windows-10-to-20H2-and-20H1/m-p/7882493#M84492

The issue is most likely outdated drivers. If you open Event Viewer (right-click "Start" and select "Event Viewer") and drill down to "Applications and Services Logs" > "Microsoft" > "Windows" > "WindowsUpdateClient" > "Operational", it should list what the upgrade does not like. In the post I referenced above, there were two drivers causing the issue. One required an update from the Dell site, the second could only be gotten directly from Intel (unless Dell has subsequently provided the appropriate update). See if the Event Viewer is referencing those same drivers.

Good luck,

JohnD
