Dell XPS 15 9570 heats up while video confrencing on AC power

My laptop tends to heat up significantly when I am using any kind of video confrencing (Google meet, Zoom, Slack) on the laptop while it is plugged in. This does not happen when the laptop is unplugged. This behaviour also amplifies when any sort of game is played while it is plugged in where it heats up much faster and to much higher temperatures.

I have ensured all my drivers are up to date and also my laptop is placed such that the fans are not obstructed.

The heat up causes the laptop to slow down in the case of games and lag in the case of video calls.

Please advise what can be done
