Problem with XPS 13 9360, WD19TB and dual 4K monitors at 60hz

Hi there,

I'm attempting to get dual 4K monitors running from an XPS 13 9360 with a WD19TB dock. The monitors are LG 24UD58, connected with DisplayPort.

At this time I can get the monitors to run at 30Hz but no faster. My understanding the 9360 and the WD19TB should drive the two externals at 60Hz no problem.

I've updated all drivers and BIOS on the laptop and firmware on the WD19TB.

Any thoughts on what I can do to get this configuration working?

Many thanks,

Tony

@tgillett  The XPS 13 9360 is a Thunderbolt-capable DisplayPort HBR2 system.  As noted in the Display Resolution Table of the WD19TB's manual available on support.dell.com, to use dual 4K 60 Hz from a Thunderbolt system that only supports HBR2, one of the displays has to be connected to the "downstream" TB3 port at the edge of the dock -- not the USB-C port near the HDMI output.  You'd use a USB-C to DisplayPort cable to accomplish this.  The reason for this requirement has to do with how the dock allocates display bandwidth it receives from the system across it outputs, which depends on whether the system is running HBR2 or HBR3.  It isn't infinitely flexible.
