Refurbished Dell XPS 9560 BRICKED - worth buying a new motherboard?
Hi all, I'm looking for some advice.
So last year my XPS 15 9560 stopped turning on or charging at all. I got it refurbished from the Dell store in 2017. I took it to a laptop repair place thinking it was just the battery, and the guy there told me my motherboard was fried and it was a lost cause, that he couldn't even extract my hard drive for future use, and that I COULD get some other shop to replace the motherboard but he would consider that a waste of money on my part since it wouldn't be installed in perfect conditions, that i would just have the same problem down the line.
I haven't needed a laptop since then but I'm looking into doing some further education and was thinking of getting a new laptop. It's a shame because my XPS really was specced out for my needs, and won't be cheap to replace. Was this guy right? Should I bother replacing parts when it might just break again? Or should I shell out for a new laptop?
Appreciate any advice! Thank you
