Simultaneous Power Supply and Dock Connection

The answer to this post

https://www.dell.com/community/XPS/XPS-15-9510-optimal-TB4-docking-station/m-p/7987537#M87189

seems to answer my question, but I'm considering getting the Caldigit Element Hub (Thunderbolt 4) to use with my (being built) XPS 17 9710. The hub will supply up to 60 watts of charging, and of course the power supply that comes with the laptop supplies 130 watts. The post cited above seems to imply there's no problem leaving both the hub and the power supply connected, which I would suspect anyway, but I'd like to be a little more confident.

Yes any other XPS than XPS 17 can be charger via TB dock with no issues.

But they are putting these RTX Cards in XPS 17 so no way a dock can supply enough power through Type C or TB.

Yes you can have both dock and power cable connected with no issues.

Hi there,

Did you get Caldigit Element Hub for your laptop? If yes, is it working okay for you?

I am planning to buy one for XPS 15 9510, to connect to two Dell S2722QC monitors. I was wondering if Caldigit Element Hub TB4 is right dock for me.

It will work off course !!

I just checked the product at amazon, $229.99 Huh ??

Just spend a few more and get something which is officially supported by Dell, in case a problem comes you will not be dancing between 2 company's tech support (personal experience)

I have an XPS 15 9520, which also requires 130W power. I have just purchased a Dell WD19TBS dock which claims to output 130W to the laptop. Hoping this dock would work for while I am gaming?

@bbllueataznee - I have the WD19TB dock that also claims 130W out to the laptop on my XPS 17 9720 and find that when gaming, I get a LITTLE battery drain but nothing major. I am running an external monitor at 1080p and 165 htz and have quite a few peripherals plugged in so that's probably not helping it. All in all, it seems to be fine and I don't see a difference or change if I plug in the additional 130W laptop power supply.
