Ubuntu 22.04 compatibility with XPS 15

I'd like to buy this https://www.dell.com/en-uk/shop/laptop-computers-2-in-1-pcs/xps-15/spd/xps-15-9520-laptop/cn95205cc however, I would like to make sure there are no graphics issues with Ubuntu 22.0.4 when I install it from either dual boot or just nuke it and go totally ubuntu.

I've done the obvious searches but these tend to just "evaporate" with no concrete conclusion so:

  • Has anyone done this and if so did you have to jump through any hoops editing grub files etc?

On my XPS 13 I have the built in display with these settings and it works fine but I've no idea if just setting these on a 15 would work

Resolution - 3840 X 2160 (16:9)

As you likely gathered graphics is not my specialist subject but I develop for linux hence the need for a decent spec machine.

All help appreciated

Bob

You would do better asking in an Ubuntu support forum -- Dell supports only Windows 11 on this model system, not Linux.

Historically, the fingerprint reader and other peripherals have not had support for Linux on models that don't have Dell support for it.
