Windows 10 laptop not compatible with Dell monitor U2312HM
I have purchased a new laptop with Windows 10 and it is not compatible with my existing Dell monitor U2312HM. Can you help?
The current message under 'Device Manager' in windows 10 under 'Monitor' states Generic PnP Monitor. The monitor does not detect the connection. I have attempted the following already with no results
- Roll back the graphics card
- Update the monitor driver via Device Manager > Monitors
- Attempted to install Windows 8 driver for the monitor with no success
- Used HDMI to display port cable
- Used HDMI to VGA with VGA converter
Can you please help? The monitor worked great a week ago and isn't compatible with the update. Is there a new driver for this monitor I can install?

That monitor was never tested or certified for use with Windows 10, so no Windows 10 drivers are available even from MS. This page may help and note that they suggest installing the Windows 8.1 driver in compatibility mode. Also a number of users have posted on the Internet with the same problem. A Google search will show what I mean. Keep in mind that the monitor is around 9 years or so old and that was well before Windows 10.
