XPS 13 9360 turning external speakers on and off when idle

The title pretty much sums it up.

I have an XPS 13 9360 with standard 2:1 Genius speakers plugged in.

The problem is that when no audio is being played, the laptop puts the speakers to idle or something, and they make the annoying sound (as when you are plugging a 3,5mm jack cable into a port while the speakers are powered on, and it cracks and buzzes for a second).

Then, when I play some sound (literally everything, even a tiny messenger notification or some Windows alert), the speakers return from idle to active (annoying loud plugging in sound) and then the laptop plays the sound.

This is extremely annoying, as it can get pretty loud even on average volume level.

I have tried to uninstall MaxxAudio completely, I've also tried to remove the Realtek drivers from Device manager and reinstalling them - both automatically from device manager, and from Dell's website, but the problem still persists.

How can I get rid of this? It is really ruining my experience from otherwise excelent laptop.

PS: the speakers are all right - they work as expected on other PCs.

EDIT: I just noticed the MaxxAudio is back. I have a feeling that this is causing the issue. How can I get rid of it completely?
