XPS 15 7590 Maximum Memory (ASSY,BASE,NBK,I5-9300H,U,7590)
hi all,
I have two XPS 15 7590 laptops bought in December 2019. Want to upgrade RAM in both of them. The intel CPU appears to be Core I5-9300, according to Dell.com/support.
Current memory is 8GB (2 4GB DIMMS) factory installed:
KN2NM DIMM,4GB,2666,1RX16,8G,DDR4,S 2
Two questions:
1. Any ideas on what is the maximum allowable memory? I am seeing 32GB x 2 DIMMS = 64GB total on the Dell Website.
2. For DDR4, 64 GB runs $300+, is it worth installing 64 GB on Core I5, Win 10 system, or should I just upgrade to say 32GB (2 x 16) - should be plenty enough..
thanks

Crucial guarantees their 64G kit will work.

For most uses, 32G is plenty unless you're running especially memory intensive applications.

Thanks for the confirmation ejn63, this is very helpful. The laptops are being used for normal high school and chess engines (Stockfish, Fritz along with Chessbase). During the chess work normally, in order to not slow down / freeze the laptop, we reduce the number of threads of processing.

similar question, is this real? I could add a second solid state drive of 2TB capacity?
