XPS 15 - 9570 Crashing on Startup screen
Hi All,
Needed some inputs if anyone has ideas on how to solve this.
I have a year old Dell XPS 15 9570 - Intel Core i5 with 8GB Ram with Intel(R) UHD Graphics 630 and 1TB 5400RPM SATA Solid State Hybrid Drive.
I have Windows Home 64Bit installed.
During a recent windows update - the laptop got shutdown by mistake and after that, the laptop has been freezing as soon as the Welcome Screen is shown or sometime, after the welcome screen, the login screen appears, but freezes once I type in the pin or password.
Pic attached
If I try and boot this in Safe Mode (After restarting twice) - It is able to boot in the safe mode and work fine. When I try safe mode with networking (F5) - The networking does not work - says the killer wireless 1535 wireless network adapter - windows cannot initialize device driver for this hardware (Code 37) - The request is not supported.
Could it be a failure in the device driver of the network adapter. Is there any solution on this? I reformatted the HDD and created a windows 10 boot disk and reinstalled windows 4 to 5 times - but same error.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi AJit-P,
Unfortunately wireless networking is not supported in Safe Mode. Don't know why but that is the case. You need a wired connection. After reformat and reinstall is it working otherwise or still crashing?

Did a complete reformat of the HDD and reinstalled Windows 10 again. Was working alright for 10 to 15 mins. Then crashed when updating the drivers from the dell support assist! Pic below -
Stumped now! Maybe need to take it in to a service center.

Hi - Any suggestions from fellow members. After a few trial and errors, I think it is the display driver error.
I installed Windows 10 version 1803 - which works fine etc with the Microsoft Basic Display driver. If I download the latest driver from the dell website and update the driver - it crashes. When I see the installation settings for the basic driver - I see this - \VEN_8086&DEV_3E9B&SUBSYS_087C1028&REV_00\3&11583659&0&10 requires further installation.
Alternately, when I upgrade from Windows 10 version 1803 to the latest update, it crashes again. The only way this laptop is working if if i use Windows 10 version 1803 and do not use windows upgrade and use the basic display driver.
Any thoughts on how to reinstall the dell laptop and reset display driver? I have formatted and reinstalled windows from multiple sources - from dell factory image reset to downloading the latest windows version and flashing it to a boot USB drive. Every version later than 1803, crashes the display driver. Any comments suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Hi, have you ever figured out what caused this? Did it end up being the display driver?

I have exactly the same thing on my DELL laptop. How did you solve this eventually?
