XPS 15 9570 & Not Charging

XPS 15" 9570

Last Week
Last week Dell decided to automatically update my BIOS and other drivers.

Now....
Immediately after the update, Windows kept prompting for an App each time i plugged the power in.
Deleted the driver and it auto installed the MS driver and at least that stopped.

My laptop only charges when it feels like it.

Most of the time it can no longer recognizes it's power adapter, and yes I went and purchased another grossly over priced Dell PSU and that has not fixed the issue.

Most of the time when i plug the PSU in, the front LED lights (white) for 5 seconds and then goes out.

As to what then makes it decide to charge - God only knows.

Dell....
a) give me a fix
b) stop forcing updates on me that break my laptop

BTW
the speaker/sound driver issue, even after two sets of speakers means i have one of the most expensive laptops you can buy that has no sound. so out of 1.5 yrs of ownership I have had no sound for over 1 year.

Did you bother running Dell Diagnostics at bootup ?

Both the Boot and the Browser based diagnostics.

They report....

Unable to determine the wattage of the power supply.... charging may be disabled.

And as I said, charging sporadically occurs as and when it feels like it.

Weirder still......

It does charge when it feels like it.

Particularly at 3am in the morning - it starts charging.

Just now it started charging at 1am.

So i do not think we are talking hardware fault here.

Funny, Dell installs an update on the 29th Feb which includes "Dell Power Manager" and now my laptop only charges in the middle of the night.

Will Dell support/solve the problem = no, I'm out of warranty.

Well Dell, I didn't ask for the update.

I will never buy a Dell product again !

I also have the same laptop and facing exactly the same issue recently. Do you able to find any solution. The only way is to charge the laptop using my office laptop charger which is USB C @FlyingHaggis
