XPS 15Z won't boot from USB ports
I am completely confused about how this forum works. After a couple of weeks of searching and trying different things, I found the solution to the USB problem listed in THIS thread. The problem is very misunderstood, and the solution posted there is wrong. I know the real solution, but apparently I'm not allowed to reply to a thread that's marked as solved. The problem is not solved in that thread, so I went to the trouble of signing up for this forum in order to share the real problem and the real solution ... how do I do that?

Make sure you are in the XPS forum discussion group as you are now. Then make sure you are signed in and click on Start A Discussion at the top of the page.

@Omegalife_Jm The solution in the link does work. As far as I can see the only procedure that they failed to mention was that the USB boot drive was formatted MBR ***NOT*** UEFI
Here is what worked for me today after 6 hours of faffing around.
- Unplug the RTC battery for a minute
- Create Windows boot drive as below
- Format USB drive as MBR using Rufus 4.2 and Windows 10 22H2
- Insert USB drive in USB/eSATA port
- Power on preferably with power cable inserted.
I hope this helps
