XPS 17 upgrade to 4TB
Hello, I have purchased the 2020 Dell XPS 17 9700, and since in Japan they only sell it with 1TB SSD storage, I am planning to upgrade, but I was wondering Is it possible to use 4TB ssd on the second slot? Or should I be worried about overheating?
i have seen many people upgrade to 2TB, but haven’t seen anyone doing the 4TB! Are there any limitations?
For now I’m considering a few options,
Slot 1: 1TB (as it is) / Slot 2: 4TB
Slot 1: 4TB (replace the os ssd)
Slot 1: 2TB / Slot 2: 4TB
Also a bit curious if it would take 4TB on both slots
Cheers from Japan!

Dell Specs says the max is 2TB https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/en-ca/xps-17-9700-laptop/xps-17-9700-setup-and-specifications/storage?guid=guid-a00459e0-2a64-449c-9f02-581bf2e3c2cf&lang=en-us

Good day!
Yes, it is possible. I have 2TB + 4TB drives installed, see my post below. No overheating problem, as both drives are mounted next to the fans. The temp of the 4TB SSD is usually in a range of 35-38 deg.
I use 4TB Sabnet Rocket for media and 2TB Samsung Evo Plus for OS.
Hope it helps.
