xps 13 9380 laptop keyboard
I bought my laptop on 22 Dec 2019 and from the start, some characters on the keyboard are interchanged. Using an external keyboard has exactly the same issues.
The @ and " keys are interchanged.
Pressing the # key produces £
Pressing the \ key produces #
To get \ one has to press CTRL+ALT+\ key
Dell support wants me to reinstall Windows 10 but I am worried about my laptop becoming unusable.
Does anyone else have similar problems?

Have you checked/changed your keyboard layout???

Perfect! Worked like a dream, thank you very much! I simply changed the keyboard layout from what it was (for some reason) - ENG UK - to ENG US and everything is normal. I am so glad that you suggested this as I was about to take Dell support's advice to re-install the OS.
