SMTP server password requirement and testing email functionality

1) XtremIO GUI insists that i specify username and password for SMTP server. My SMTP server does not require credentials when being accessed from internal networks.  How do i get around that ?

2) Is there a way to test email functionality ?

Thanks

I would recommend working with EMC Support to further identify the root cause. As long as you have followed the instructions to setup the email notifier properly, you should be getting these alerts in email.

Avi - has this bug been fixed in the latest codes do you know? I can't find it in the release notes so even if we are setting up the handlers for our customers, are we still requiring the user/passwd combo until there is a fix in the future?

This is scheduled to be fixed in the next service pack release.

Thanks Avi! That is good to know.

PGK - here is a GUI shot of how you can setup event handlers:

Thanks echolaughmk but after setting up event handlers I am still not receiving any emails.

@Avi - Do you know if the new code with the fix is available to customers?

it is fixed indeed. My internal email relay does not require username nor password so those two fields are empty ...and email notification is working great.

Could this have been re-broken in the latest 4.0.2-80 code by any chance? Working with a customer now where these worked on a 4.0.2.-59 box, but have since stopped working on a new cluster that is running the latest code. SMTP has been setup correct and added to their relay server, but no notifications are being sent - just curious if others are seeing this behavior again now with the later codes?

Thanks
