XMS failed to installuntar failure

A customer was installing a XMS , and when selecting install XMS he got the following error:

"XMS failed to installuntar failure"

He was uploading File: upgrade-to-4.0.2-80.tar

Also, he mentioned that he has run the same procedure at another customer  with upgrade-to-4.0.10-33_XIOS_4.2.0-34_XMS.tar, and that worked so i recommended for him to upload File: upgrade-to-4.0.10-33_XIOS_4.2.0-34_XMS.tar and check if the error appear again, but it didnot and the installing process went successfully

so i was wondering why is this error "XMS failed to installuntar failure" appeared  in the first place?.

XtremIO Upgrades (including XMS) are not intended to be done by customers, but should be done in conjunction with EMC Support.

They should open a call with support, who will assist them with completing the upgrade.

yes it should be done by EMC support, but he had access to do it and actually when he used File: upgrade-to-4.0.10-33_XIOS_4.2.0-34_XMS.tar the installing process went successfully . i am wondering why the error was shown while upgrading to 4.0.2-80

If I had to guess, I'd say the file is corrupted (eg, truncated).

If the correct procedure had been followed then this issue would have been detected before the upgrade was started, however clearly the correct process hasn't been followed - which is one of the many reasons that this should only be done by EMC Support.
