120Hz, Alienware AW2518 monitors discussion

There is not an initiative by Dell/Alienware to add/upgrade to 120Hz on an Alienware monitor that never shipped with 120Hz for all of its video in ports. The online User's Guide for your specific Alienware monitor shows the supported Preset Display Modes (Hz).

I will provide two examples of having 120Hz and not having 120Hz.

The AW2518HF AMD FreeSync monitor User's Guide (page 13) shows all that when used on a Windows 10 PC with validated AMD FreeSync video card, 120Hz is supported by both DP and HDMI.

The AW2518H Nvidia G-Sync monitor User's Guide (page 13) shows all that when used on a Windows 10 PC with validated Nvidia G-Sync video card, 120Hz is supported on DP, but not HDMI. That is how the AW2518H Nvidia G-Sync monitor was marketed and sold. There will not be a firmware update to add/upgrade 120Hz on HDMI.
