Area-51 R1, rebuilding, power board and cables?
Hello,
I would like to restore an old but beautiful Area 51 R1. However, the power board with the corresponding cables is missing. Are there any part numbers or sources where you can still buy these parts?
Many thanks and best regards.

Am thinking the part number for the x51 R1 power board is 0VFHMM.
There are some sale ads that confirming the part number: here, here, and here.
Thanks Chris M for clarification of system model number. Edited my post to void the invalid information.

2012 X51 R1 is not what OP was asking. I think they mean the 2009 Area-51 R1.
BIB02 = not a Dell part number
H6HK9 = daughterboard. But not for 2009 Area-51 R1
I cannot find a power board part number?

Cass is the guru on A51 R1 aka phobos and owner of 6 of these units.
send Cassole a PM if he is not yet alerted to OP request on info.

it would be quite hard to source these. better luck buying a whole chassis. if you are lucky find one that is gutted and in not so great condition, so it is less expensive but still have the original parts of chassis.
PS like the analyst in Matrix 4 said it cost twice as much to rebuild an old house.

If you just want retro X58, you do not have to install stock Dell board in this case. there are other non Dell X58 boards that would work with R1 case and those do not need the power board to run a liquid cooler. many of those have multiple cpu fan headers.

The top left Powerboard was part of the removable Top Liquid Cooling Caddy Assembly (x3 120mm Top Fan Housing) part# U568R, & it doesn't have its own part#, they were sold as a set (a multi-part "assembly"). Nor do the corresponding ~48" cables have a part#, they were "included as a part of the overall case". Back in the day they didn't know better to part everything out or hold back customer spares in reserve for sale. Once in a blu moon one or both items will land on eBay so keep checking back there, otherwise I don't know of a source, even years ago it was a rare item
I have ONE used good set of what u asked about -powerboard / vga cables- that plug into the top left powerboard (& MIO board). If you're in the US, try to send me a PM, we can discuss (but I can't help source the pwrbrd). If PM doesn't work, post back into thread here
You don't exactly need a pwrbrd these days
The original AIO 120mm CPU aliencoolers (& rad-fans) are all about to turn 15 years old, & w/ a 5year life expectancy maybe time to buy something new? Maybe a 240 mil?
Aside from the fact it makes up part of the Interior Theatre Lighting (when the side panel is opened), if you no longer use the original AIO liquid cooler & can plug the new one + the radiator fan(s) into the motherboard CPU or Fan headers then in a sense, the pwrbrd isn't needed anymore (but you'll want to buy-install one eventually in order to put the case back to original whether it's being used or isn't, for peace of mind)

Otherwise HSMOZU on TaoBao (China) used to offer the Activent-PwrBrd cables (I bought three black sets w/ help from a friend in HongKong, sales pic below), & the links I had saved to the sales page no longer work so I'm not sure if they still sell these, but maybe they can be contacted through the link above or this other sales page for the MIO PSU 10pin
(English - Europen speakers may need to enlist help from a Madarin translator, plus help w/ purchases on TaoBao). The pic & links are all I can offer in the way of help
***ProTip: offer HSMOZU a few dollars extra for thicker 22awg wire when buying this set

I wish they could use black wires instead of silver. unless someone likes a white knight elf setup.

I'd said I'd bought three black sets from them ~5yrs ago, u have to request it (no charge) & pay like $5 extra for 22awg wire. I sleeved those & transferred the tag-labels on, looks killer

First of all, thank you very much for all the information. I have now also found the thread from Cass-Ole (https://www.dell.com/community/en/conversations/alienware-desktops/the-alx-files-alien-autopsy-area-51-r1-part-list-for-a-full-restoration/647f8421f4ccf8a8de2fdf8c?keyword=autopsy) and am of the opinion that it is the control unit for the fan and pump. (...Other parts that weren't sold separately were often due to being part of a larger 'Assembly', like the top left powerboard (part of the U568R cooling caddy...), The Case, which I bought very cheaply, is incomplete and in comparatively poor condition (missing, defective or deformed parts, paint damage). I am now considering whether it makes sense to restore the case or to rebuild it so that it is suitable for more up-to-date technology. this means refurbishing the sheet metal damage, wrapping or painting and a new interior. if the new computer “only” has air cooling - is the missing board still necessary? does the flap control on the top work with the mio board or is the separate power board necessary for this? (...I just saw that redxps630 has already answered the question...)
thanks again for any advice

Top air vent is controlled by MIO.
This case is a true Godzilla and looks like one too. It belongs to a tech museum that displays ancient technology achievements

Theatre Lighting shown
x3 (unsleeved) cables for the Top Active Vent's motor + switch + Leds
x2 Cables for the top left powerboard, so, "board power + VGA"
The original aliencooler uses a non-standard 5pin Molex SL connector, & only the SYS_FAN header has smart MIO-CmndCntr fan speed control, the other fan headers run at 100% which is fine for an aftermarket AIO liquid cooler to plug into & you'd run new rad-fan(s) off SYS_FAN etc, so the PwrBrd still has a practical use
In the end, u can run-build an air or liquid-cooled PC w/ out one until it can be replaced, simply use the motherboard fan / pump headers (& any included speed-monitoring software)
There was a plan apparently to offer liquid GPU cooling up top, & provisions on the PwrBrd (& top caddy) for x3 120mm AIO coolers & radiator fans + temp sensors etc, but the x1 VGA cable has basically always gone unused
GPU Pump widget was built into early CmndCntr software versions
