Aurora R11, Dual GPUs?

Question

I'm looking to get an Alienware Aurora R11 with the following specs. I can provide more detail if necessary. I'd like to add a Nvidia Quadro as a second GPU if this build can handle it because I plan on having some modeling software like Solidworks and NX. These won't be my central focus on my computer (otherwise I wouldn't build a gaming computer for modeling) but its important they can work on this build.

-10th Gen Intel i9-10900F, 10-core 20MB 2.8GHz-5.2GHz w/Thermal Velocity boost

-Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 Super 8GB GDDR6

-16GB Dual Channel HyperX Fury DDR4 XMP @3200MHz

-1TB SSD and 2TB HDD

-Liquid Cooled with 550W Power Supply

-Killer Wifi 6 AX1650 (2x2) 802.11ax Wireless and 5.1 Bluetooth

I've heard here and there a GeForce can handle Solidworks to a certain extent? If the build can handle a Quadro too and there is room on the motherboard, and I can add it in myself, I'll buy this build today!

I would think that a 550W power supply wouldn't be adequate.

Is there a way to disable one GPU over the other manually or automatically when using different programs? I don't want to utilize both at the same time via SLI, I just want to have the option to use the Quadro for modeling software and GeForce for gaming

Probably a moot question at this point, but the motherboard the R11 uses can fit both GPUs right?

You can connect two different GPUs and then set the one to use under PhysX in the Nvidia Control Panel.

It should run two GPUs (I think you are asking about two, but different and non-SLI). However, a bigger machine would be better. Get the (largest) 850w PS.

Have you looked at the Precision Desktops? You could buy it with a baby-cheap GPU, but largest power-supply. Pull it and install your two retail GPUs.

Hey everyone... i have a R12 with the rtx 3080... so is it possible to add another RTX graphics card in the bottom part of the case? if so which brand will fit in the R12... i do have it 1000w liquid cooled

There's a thread on here that lists some aftermarket GPU's that will fit, but it is a tight fit.

But even then, 2 x RTX 3080 will stress that power supply and the thermals will be so bad you could fry an egg on the exhaust air coming from such a setup.

I cannot think of any application where a gaming computer would benefit from 2 x RTX 3080.
