Aurora R9, GPU upgrade
Alienware Aurora R9
I want to upgrade nd put an NVIDIA - GeForce RTX 4070 12GB GDDR6X Graphics Card - Titanium and blackNVIDIA - GeForce RTX 4070 12GB GDDR6X Graphics Card - Titanium and black video card in. Will it work well, or create a bottle neck? Thank you.

@Vanadiel 1440 would be used the majority of the time. Maybe I will wait and see what comes out in a few months... Thank you both.

Before you study cpu gpu match or mismatch (bottleneck), R9 case is not good for high power gpu due to cramped interior. So it is not going to work well in practical cooling consideration. If you swap to a larger case with better air flow cooling then you can proceed to the next step of bottleneck study.

What is the CPU and RAM configuration, and resolution you play games at?

@Chwilco Will work fine at 4K, but not so much at 1440P.
And what red said, cramped case will provide a challenge. You will also have to make sure the card physically fits inside the case.

@Vanadiel I think you got those resolutions backwards there mate. It would be fine for 1440p, NOT 4K. Of course, the case stinks so no ventilation and massive overheating issues. It can't even cool a stock 2080 Ti without it sounding so loud, even headphones don't block out the sound so guessing it'll have a hard time cooling anything more powerful.

@Tech Advocate No, because of CPU bottleneck. The lower the resolution the higher the CPU bottleneck will be. That' why it will be better for 4K than 1440 or 1080.

The current video card in my Aurora R9 is a 2070 TI. Bought the system 4 yrs ago. I tried to upgrade it to a 4080 Super, but it is 12.5" long. The chassis accomodates 10.5" so I think I check what Dell has and get the best possible...
