pre-Dell Alienware P2 predator light control motherboard

P2 case daughterboard official name is ELC Board FX Light Card.  there are two types: passive (PC051103) and active (PC051102).

AlienFX hardware comprises three components:

  1. LED lights in clusters around the case to allow multiple leds to turn on to provide various colors. These connect to the ELC Motherboard via what look like PATA cable connectors. There are three PATA headers on the ELC MB.
  2. An ELC motherboard which connects the LED light wires, power, and a USB connection to the ELC daughter card which contains all the active components.
  3. An ELC daughter card which connects to the ELC MB with an angled connector similar to an SODIMM connector, if not exactly an SODIMM connector.

Vintage tech their buddy.

I think these > XPS-720/730_MIO > Aurora-R1/Area51-R1 desktops.

Then the other (still dedicated boards) in next Aurora's and Area-51 over the years.

Then finally (nowdays), AFAIK ... the MIO-Board is now mostly "Virtualized" and used like that ... with just minimal connections for lights and fans.

But pretty sure it's accurate to say it started here (with these) or there-abouts.

Origin used to host a forum-section for these Legacy Alienware computers, but that was like 15 years ago.
