X51 R1, keyboard stops responding
Hello,
For a couple of months now, my keyboard doesn't work. I unplug, and plug, I change ports, and replaced keyboard. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this. Any suggestions appreciated.

Good to hear your little X51 is still working.
So, what happened when you purchased and installed a new (wired USB) keyboard?
Have you tried the front-ports AND the back ones?
Do flash-drives work in those ports?
Have you run the computer's ePSA Diagnostics?
Remember, it's really just a Small-Form-Factor Windows computer.

Hello,
Thanks for your suggestions. Sorry for delay in response. I can answer yes to most of your questions, except I don't think the diagnostics I performed was "ePSA." I will run that.
The issue is tricky; it is intermittent. The new keyboard was working fine for a long time before it happened again just this week.
I moved the cable to a different port and all is well so far.
Do you think the OS can be a factor?

Good to hear the new port is working. Since it's "just a keyboard" then a basic USB-2.0 port might be best. Those are "simpler" and not as finicky as USB-3.0 ones.
I would not think an OS problem if it works most of the time.
Sounds like maybe just a lose connection, dirty port contacts, tarnished pin contacts from non-use. Have you ever looked closely at a USB connector set ... it's just the basics, really optimized to be temporary (that's why it's used for portable devices).
