AW 17 upgrade with external graphics card
Alienware 17
specs:
Intel core i7-4700MQ
AMD Radeon R9 M290X
16 GB RAM
I want to get the Alienware Graphics Amplifier because I've been trying to play games like Dark Souls 3 and could only get it up around 5-15 FPS on minimum settings and resolution. Does the type of graphics card I get for it matter? For example can I get an nVidia isntead of AMD?

Yes you can have an Nvidia. These are the validated AGA cards:

And also remember that doesn't matter what card you have on the amplifier, the driver that must be installed is the laptop's driver (AMD driver).
