16X Aurora AC16251, fan running high
I bought an Alienware 16 Aurora Gaming Laptop recently and the fan started running loudly all of sudden. I dusted the area around it and cleaned out the vents with compressed air and the fan still runs high. Is there a way to fix that?

@jhonnzidd Actually I called tech support. It turns out it was a defective processor fan, and they sent a technician to replace it for me.

If it's running loudly all the time, you probably turned on performance mode. Open up AWCC and switch it back to balanced mode

@Eagullfly In that case I'm not sure. Update the drivers maybe? There's a new Intel Dynamic Tuning driver out for the 16X. I just installed it and it's greatly reduced my 275HX idle temperature.

@Eagullfly Fans still running high? As in it's loud too?

Try custom mode in AWCC and set fans to lowest percentage just to see what it does

@Atomfix According to Alienware Command Center it is the GPU fan that seems to be constantly running. It's always at 100% even when idle.

@Eagullfly At this point. I'd contact Dell. They can remote in and take a look. There's a new BIOS update out today so you may as well try that out and rule out the BIOS all together.

Hey Eagullfly, I’d recommend updating your BIOS and the Alienware Command Center software from Dell’s support page. After that, open the Command Center and switch the thermal profile to “Balanced” or “Quiet” to help calm the fans down. Also, check Task Manager to see if any apps are using a lot of CPU or GPU in the background, that’s often a hidden cause of fans running wild.
