16X Aurora AC16251, is Element 31 or liquid metal used?

Is there any related information?

Thanks!

The Alienware 16X Aurora uses Element 31, which is a gallium-silicone liquid metal thermal interface material. It's used on both the CPU and GPU to improve cooling performance by reducing thermal resistance.

To receive assistance from Dell chat support, they need to verify the warranty status and ownership. Then you must troubleshoot with them.  Click the "Get Help Now" icon on the right to start a live chat session. If already out of warranty, click here for the Dell out of warranty offering.

@DELL-Jesse L

Thanks for the update!

If I use a laptop stand for desk, does the laptop need to be placed flat on the stand? If the laptop is positioned at an inclined angle for an extended period, could this result in an uneven distribution of Element 31, thereby reducing thermal performance?

Thank you.

  • Great question — and you’re absolutely right to think about thermal behavior when using a stand.

    While Element 31 is a gallium-silicone liquid metal compound, it’s designed to remain stable under normal laptop usage and orientations. An inclined angle won’t cause it to “flow” or pool, since it’s applied in a thin, contained layer between the CPU/GPU and the heatsink.

    However, for optimal thermal performance, it’s best to:

    • Use a ventilated or open-style stand that allows good airflow underneath.

    • Avoid blocking the intake or exhaust vents.

    • Keep ambient temperature moderate and dust-free to maintain cooling efficiency.
