m15 R3, Alienware keyboard lights

PROBLEM:  AWCC (Alienware Command Center) does not recognize keyboard. Keyboard lights are stuck on.  Cannot turn off.

DISCUSSION:

My keyboard lights went dead
Dell online support diagnosed as bad keyboard. Dell tech replaced keyboard - no joy
Dell tech came back and replaced motherboard - no joy
Dell tech came back and replaced palm rest - keyboards lights came on but, will not turnoff.  AWCC still does not recognize keyboard
Uninstalled/Reinstalled AWCC - no joy

Anyone got any ideas?

Thank you,

David

UPDATE

Dell wanted to do a new windows install.  I would have had to reinstall all my programs.  Been there.  A very long and tedious process.  I said NO

Found several articles on internet, and...   uninstalled command center, removed files, removed registry entries, and reinstalled command center.

IT WORKED - PROBLEM SOLVED

Thank you for sharing this solution and glad it worked out, if possible, can you share the links/articles you used? If not, that's not a problem, but I was thinking it might help other members too! Thanks again, and glad you were able to get this working!

Brad,

I have reviewed my internet search history to relocate the resources that I used.  I found two among the many that were helpful:

https://www.onecomputerguy.com/alienware-fx-not-working/

https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000178439/how-to-remove-and-reinstall-the-alienware-command-center

The major lesson was that to uninstall through Windows' settings/apps was not enough.  Files and registry entries also needed to be removed.

The articles suggested file names and locations, as well as registry entries.  For files and the registry, what I found on my computer was that the items were slightly different than those referenced in the articles.  I thought one reason could be that my command center was a newer version, although I was not sure.

My approach became slightly reckless.  I was facing a windows re-install.  The Dell tech had made three visits already.  This was the second time that a hardware change had problematic consequences.  The first being when replacing the motherboard that the change in motherboards wiped out the credentials for Outlook to use MS Exchange - a problem that I had to fix myself.

After the third Dell tech visit, the keyboards were stuck on.  When I texted this information to the departed Dell tech, he was stumped.  His backup support team recommended the windows reinstall.   So, I felt that I had nothing to lose...

I studied the files and registry entries that I found.  I deleted all that appeared to be related.  Then, I reinstalled Command Center.  Then everything worked.

To be clear, I am a very long time Dell customer.  I love the products and value the support.  The Dell tech who came out was good.  To work towards resolution, the keyboard, motherboard, and palm rest were replaced.  The issues - Outlook/Exchange and re-installing Command Center - involved the interaction between hardware changes and the attendant consequences to system software.  These consequences fell throw the cracks.

Glad to hear it sorted.

I had the same issue for months. My macro keys just stopped working in the most random way.

After doing everything including new operating system. I discovered that I had a file in the one drive that caused the AWCC to malfunction. Once I cleared the document file in the One drive, did a full uninstall and reinstall, regedit, I am happily using my macro keys again !!!!!
