m15 R6, how to set service tag
My laptop stopped charging the battery due to the AC connections on the motherboard becoming brittle and not making contact any longer. Not a solder kink of guy or I would have fixed it. The cost of taking it in when I knew EXACTLY what the problem was is unpalatable as well. SOOO, I purchased a replacement motherboard from the secondary market and swapped it out and viola! All fine in whoville once again. Service tag is blank and complains about it every time I restart. I really would like to put the service tag back on the mobo if possible without sending it to dell for a few hundred dollars.
I am a software engineer by trade for over 20 years so using a command line utility is no problem for me.
Anyone have a line on a utility that will make this nuisance go away?

The board needs to go back to the seller to have it reset into manufacturing mode. Then you can enter a service tag and it will be saved thereafter.

Another reason I will never buy another Dell in my lifetime.
