Moving to Alienware notebook forum.
Ask the "tech" why they chose to replace that part, but it's likely there is other damage -- replace the system board.

Consider obtaining a refund for the faulty repair -- and if you're looking for a reliable repair shop, choose elsewhere if you go forward with a board replacement. I question that technician's diagnosis.
