System: Alienware x16 R2, RTX 4080 Mobile, Intel Core Ultra 9 185H, external monitor setup (LG UltraGear 34GX900A-B, 3440x1440 OLED, 240Hz)

Symptom pattern: Game crashes to desktop, then the system throws an error and requires a full reboot (not always a visible bluescreen). After reboot, the dGPU is undetected — NVIDIA App shows no GPU present. A second reboot restores normal detection and operation.

Bugcheck data: Consistently 0x00000113 (VIDEO_DXGKRNL_FATAL_ERROR) with identical parameters across all recorded crashes: (0x19, 0x2, 0x10de, 0x27e0). Subtype 0x19 corresponds to DirectX.FatalError.Desc: UNEXPECTED_DEFERRED_DESTRUCTION.

Frequency: Six occurrences recorded between May and August 2026 (5/15, 6/2, 7/15, 7/28, 7/31, 8/4), with the interval between crashes shortening over time — frequency is accelerating rather than stable.

Already ruled out / tested:

• Always running on an external monitor (LG UltraGear, DisplayPort) — not using the internal display, so this is not an eDP/internal panel connection issue.
• Ran sfc /scannow and DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth — corrupted system files were found and repaired, but the crash pattern persists.
• GPU temperatures observed near 100°C under load; Dell support has previously stated this is within normal operating range for this chassis.
• Sent to an authorized repair shop for diagnosis — no fault found, attributed to normal high-performance laptop thermals.
• Machine is currently out of standard warranty.

Question: Given the identical bugcheck signature across all six crashes and the accelerating frequency, is this a known issue with the x16 R2 / RTX 4080 Mobile combination? Has Dell released any BIOS or driver updates specifically addressing dGPU power delivery, Advanced Optimus switching, or thermal throttling behavior that could produce this UNEXPECTED_DEFERRED_DESTRUCTION signature? Any guidance on whether this warrants pursuing an extended warranty claim given the pre-existing diagnostic history would also be appreciated.
