FC on M640 VRTX

Question

Hello and have a nice day!

I try set FC on VRTX chassis with blade M640. I had install FC card QLE2692 in the second riser's slot (fabric B) and mezzanine card QME2662 in the slot "B" in the M640, but after starting M640 crashes into the error: "A mezannine card mismatch for fabric B1". Whats wrong? Thank you.

Hi, I believe the Broadcom 57840 mezzanine bridge card doesn’t provide Fibre Channel functionality itself. Its role is to bridge the blade’s PCIe lanes to the VRTX I/O fabric, allowing the chassis slots to “see” the PCIe cards installed in the VRTX I/O module slots.

Once you install the mezzanine bridge card (part #3N9XX), the blade should be able to map to the FC ports of the QLE2692 that’s installed in the VRTX chassis. The bridge card is purely for connectivity—it enables communication between the blade and the PCIe card in the chassis, but it doesn’t add FC capability on its own.

I believe the issue you are running into is due to the QME2662 is a standard mezz card, where the M640 blades for VRTX would require a mezzanine bridge/passthrough card to properly map mezzanine slots to the VRTX I/O fabrics, such as Part #3N9XX.

@DELL-Young E​ Thank you, but I basic on official document of Marvell (QLogic) FC0054521-00 Rev. ZH 09/19 QLE2692 is marked as compatibale with M640 VRTX and has Dell's factory and customer kit numbers. If it mistake, can you give recommendations about FC' compatibale pair for my configuration, if it possible. Thank you in advance.

Thank you all for your help! It is really was problem with my Incompetence of the vrtx architecture. I see fc ports of QLE2692 after installing mezzanine bridge card 3N9XX.
