Symptom Description User reported problems deleting unused interface with the error "item is currently in use by Replication". This problem occurred if multiple interfaces were configured with IP addresses that shared the first 3 octets and first digit of the 4th octet. Fix Code now checks for the full IP address instead of a subset to prevent this condition. Fixed in version5.5.25.0
Depending on which one it is a data mover reboot might temporarily fix it
Either way 5.5.23 is getting a bit old (Sepember 2006) and an upgrade doesnt hurt
What version of NAS code you are running? I'll suggest opening a case with EMC NAS Support - they can investigate and suggest properly. It may an issue with the NAS code version you are running.
As I anticipated, there was a known issue relate to this, which was fixed in 5.5.24.0 NAS code onwards. The issue being -
if an application other than replication or fs-Copy (such as port scanner) established a TCP connect on Replicator's port (TCP Port 8888), a network interface was marked as in-use by Replicator. When user attempted to delete that interface, the operation failed with the following error : Currently in-use bu replication.
So - you are hitting this symptom as you are running 5.5.23 code and the solution is a code upgrade. Contact your EMC Customer Engineer or open a Case with EMC NAS Support as soon as possible.
However, if you can get another IP Address on the network, you may consider creating a new Interface on the same physical device (cge port or Trunk/FSN device is they are created) on the data mover and use this Interface with your existing CIFS server. The DNS needs to be updated accordingly.
By the way - you may check whether any replication of fs_copy sessions are there or not with the following command -
That's absolutely fine - but you can also mark other posts as Helpful - you have the option to mark one reply as Correct and upto 2 replies as Helpful. Correct will reward 10 points, helpful provides 6 points. So, if you want, you can mark my replies as Helpful.
By the way I like your idea of getting some perks out of correct posts but that's not the case - we participate in the forum just because we love to do so and we can also learn many things from all others.
Probably as some guys here keep on saying in every other post they answer, that "give me points", "check my answer as correct/helpful, which gives an impression that something is there...so thats why Storageguy01 asked that question.... It is all upto the person who starts thread to give it or not.
Good observation - however, you are right, it's all upto the person who starts the thread or post the question.
At the same time, another important aspect of marking a question as answered - it will help in powerlink search to identify correct answer for same kind of questions. Since Support Forum is a part of Powerlink Search - marking a correct answer will help for all future queries on same issue. Also one can search Support Forums only for simalar issues and get the answer if it is marked Correct.
Lastly - it makes sense to mark a question answered if the issue is resolved or the question is answered satisfactorily. So it will not be reflected as unanswered question in the forum.
