SAN OS upgrade

Our MDS 9513 is currently running with SAN OS 3.0 (2a). We are planning to upgrade it to recent versions. I could see NX-OS 4.1 as new,can we upgrade our MDS 9513 to 4.1 version from 3.0 (2a)? does NX-series supports MDS series directors? If not to what SAN OS version we can upgrade?

Unfortunately EOSL code isn't tested at EMC with new code releases. No upgrade testing or certification of 3.0(2a) was done for 3.3(1c) at EMC. Please check Cisco's release notes to see if they show your configuration as supported for online upgrades. If EMC is providing your support for the switches, they may need to be upgraded like an offline upgrade just in case. Please discuss with your EMC Customer Engineer.

Hello,

NX-OS 4.1(1b) must be upgraded to from 3.3(1c) only. I would recommend upgrading your switches to 3.31(1c) as soon as possible. Please keep in mind that any code below 3.1(2) is EMC end of life (EOL) and end of service life (EOSL). If you encounter any issues with EOSL code, you will most likely be requested to upgrade to continue being supported by EMC.

Thank you for your prompt response. Can we upgrade it to 3.3 (1c) from the current version 3.0 (2a)? I assume this process is non-disruptive, Plz confirm.

Any ideas of when the NX-OS version will be certified by EMC ?

NX-OS 4.1(1b) was released by EMC on November 17th.

I'm looking almost every day on the partner website on Powerlink, but the only NX-OS I find is the 4.0(0) for the Nexus 5020.

So where do I find the 4.1(1b) ?

4.1(1b) was provided to the Partners group at the same time as it was posted for internal EMC Support. I know as I do the postings for internal support and cc them on the email. If the Partner site is not updated with 4.1(1b), please contact Partner Support in regards to this and they will be able to assist you. I will also send them an email reminder.

Hey Ciscokid,

thanks for the help, I talked to the Partners Group as well and the 4.1 NX-OS is now indeed online. I even heard the 3.3(2) will be online early January.

At least now I can inform my customers about the 497 day reboot issue and offer my services.
