Dell customer service is absolute trash. I haven been battling them for over three weeks now to get my order shipped. They advised me to cancel my first order. Now, my second order is stalled the exact same way. "Your Order Has Been Received".
The PC I'm ordering is needed to run software for a very expensive piece of equipment. A piece of equipment that is sitting idle and losing me money.
And to top it all off, my small business rep hasn't responded to me in two days.
Dell will NEVER get another dime from me. Not for my personal use and most certainly not for my business.
My firm ordered a new replacement Latitude 7420 notebook back on March 15th, and it still hasn't shipped, nor has there been any update as to a future expected shipment date. So over 90 days since the order was submitted, and still nothing. A month or so ago we were told the reason for then 60+ day delay was a 'back order' on the LCD screen. Since then, nothing.
Yet, last week I checked out the Dell website and discovered I could order a new notebook with the identical configuration (including screen) with an expected ship date of about 30 days. How can Dell possibly ship a new order placed now in a month when they haven't filled orders placed over three months ago? Dell should have a three-month backlog to clear first.
From my perspective, it appears that Dell is either misleading potential new clients with unrealistic shipment dates in order to secure the new order (and then after the order has been placed, start offering up excuse after excuse for delays) or they are deliberately delaying shipment to existing older orders in order meet the demand for new orders within a reasonable time-frame.
I get it that there is a world-wide shortage of computer components right now, but the lack of transparency over shipment availability is not acceptable.
Given my experience, anyone placing an order today for a new computer from Dell should absolutely NOT trust the expected shipment date that they are given. And Dell doesn't care if you cancel your order because of delays, they can turn around and sell it someone else in minutes.
I am literally just playing the waiting game. Getting a new laptop and to see how long it would actually take for me to get my XPS...order April 10th...
Yeah, it is an unfortunate situation, to say the least; being all excited and waiting day-by-day for things to move along to find out last minute that things will take much longer...been keeping up with these tales since before I posted. I've omitted some details in my experience because I didn't want to seem as if I were uncontrollably angry or as if they've lost a customer. I mean I know it's frustrating, but I've gotten good service before, and chances are by the next time I need a new computer this whole shortage business will be behind us...
But I suppose as an update, the same day I posted I was told by two different people via PM and e-mail that my order was in the last stages of production and will be shipped in a day or two, or at any time, which is why I thought this issue was resolved. However, the next day my order page got an update, with a little "Order Delayed" notice on it. A couple hours later it went to "In Production" but still with a delay notice, and my dates were finally changed.
From my order last year, there was an extra step in the progress bar called "Build Complete", which doesn't seem to be there for my current order, so I'm not sure that it going to In Production meant that it started being built or finished being built, but considering what I was told I'm inclined to believe that it was finished (sheer hope...). But anyway, the next week I get an update through PM saying that they were waiting for a tracking number to be assigned. That was last week; today is the revised ship date. I'm not sure how long it takes to package and ship something, but about two weeks (and counting) seems like a bit much... So I'm not sure if the information the manufacturing team is dishing out to customer care reps is exactly accurate...or maybe there were unforeseen events taking place that delayed it again, who knows... I suppose I have to wait until Thursday to find out if my delivery date will be moved again (it's currently next week), or maybe this post will prompt an update...otherwise I figure I'll just wait it out
Like I said, I'm not "angry", but I figured I might as well give my perspective and keep things updated for those who are having similar issues...
I look forward to when my order actually ships!
...wasn't going to mention it, but I figure there's no harm: Ordered May 25th (feels like forever ago...)...
Glad to see you got your order! I ordered a Dell Precision 7750 late last week and was rather shocked to see the ship date all the way out to 20 August! I thought it might have to do with backlog due to high demand post-pandemic, but in skimming through the posts, I’m seeing it’s more of a logistics/part availability issue. Seems a bit strange to me as the 7750 is “last year’s model” and most likely the reason it was on sale (actually, ProSupport special). Good thing I don’t “need” the workstation immediately.
I have a houseful of Dell products (mostly Precisions), the vast majority of which I’ve purchased through Dell Outlet. I had issue last year with a delayed Outlet delivery but that could be blamed on the pandemic, and it was resolved and I got the laptop (inputting this post on it right now!). My laptop is also at the "entering production" phase. Certainly hope I don't have to wait until mid-August for it.
I had ordered an R10 with neither the best parts nor the worst parts, per se, so I think that could've contributed to me having a slightly quicker build time. From what I've seen, the base or best models seem to take the longest. I figure I can upgrade down the road when things get cheaper...
Laptops seem to be the worst in terms of wait times right now, from what I've read of peoples' experiences...luckily I also don't have any desperate need for it, except for playing games...but thankfully that's also what PS5 is for...
I had to ask from the beginning about my order's status, and basically each time I asked it had to be a new service request (until I posted here), nobody contacted me to let me know without me asking first. Although it seems some people have been told off-hand through an e-mail that theirs would be delayed.
Been wanting an Alienware for awhile so despite seeing some pretty good deals, I had to come here. But for the most part the pricing seems to be competitive with most others that I saw...which is why I don't know if I can trust just any old brand selling something good for too cheap. Bought a Lenovo laptop once 'cause it seemed like a sweet deal but I probably shouldn't have dove right in (speaker issues, over-heating, etc., and eventually just crapped out), so spending a bit more for something more reliable and long-lasting seemed like the better option for me.
But anyway, still have to wait for the delivery, which should hopefully be soon. Still at the shipping label phase so no estimated date yet...shall keep posted...
Best of luck to everyone with their orders, in the meantime.
The same thing has happened to me. I need the laptop I ordered for school since don't have another system and I haven't received an update from Dell regarding my order in almost a month. At this rate I'll have no choice but to cancel and buy something else.
I am a new Dell customer and I'm beginning to regret it. I spent big money switching to Dell from other gaming laptops. I could had my Msi or other laptop by now. Seems like there is nothing to do but wait and review the page which only says it's about to enter production a MONTH later. Blame it on cozid and stuff. Really LOL. SEND ME MY COMPUTER. I am regretting switching to Dell.
Hi. I am here to discuss my delayed order. My order was confirmed on May 27 for Alienware Laptop. It's been so long, I am still waiting for my order. It is not even shipped yet. They keep on moving the Shipping date every week on the online status portal. I am so frustrated. I am working from home on my old laptop. And I wanted my laptop to work further on my design project. I committed to my company that I will get my new laptop this month.
The online status update is a fraud thing, I believe. It is never true. Today it is showing Revised Ship Date - July 20 and the Estimated Delivery date to be July 20 too. How is it possible? I think they have created this thing just to keep customers busy expecting which is not true at all. I have called Customer Care, the Sales Representatives many times. Nobody gives a clear answer. Yesterday, I wrote my whole story to the Sales people, who emailed me the order details before. But, nobody replied. I emailed today also to follow up. Still no reply.
I really don't know what to do. Should I just cancel the order and forget Dell forever. Please, someone, reply and suggest if you have faced or facing a similar thing.

Alright, just a little update:
Order picked up by my local courier (Purolator) earlier today, expected to arrive Monday, July 5th, 2021.
I've received packages from them on a Saturday before, but I guess that was a special case, and now I suppose I have to wait *sigh*, we'll see...
But Yay!!, also...
I guess it might be helpful to mention that it's coming from Toronto, Canada...
