Motherboard replaced 4 months ago has failed again, requesting goodwill review
Hi,
I'm hoping to get this reviewed by someone on the Customer Care team.
About 4 months ago, my Inspiron 16 Plus 7640 had its motherboard replaced through a Dell repair service request. The system has now failed again, and after sending it in for diagnosis, I was told it's the same issue: the motherboard needs to be replaced a second time.
I called in to ask whether the replacement part could be covered under a goodwill exception, since it's the same component Dell installed only 4 months ago. The rep checked with their team and the request was declined, since it's past the 90-day repair warranty window.
I understand the standard policy, but I wanted to raise this here because a motherboard failing again within 4 months of being replaced seems like more than routine wear. For context, the system has always been run through a surge protector rated for 2500 joules, so this isn't a case of an unprotected power event causing the damage.
I'm not asking for a full free repair, I'm glad to cover the labor cost, but I don't think it's unreasonable to ask Dell to stand behind a part it installed that didn't last even half a year.
Could someone take a look at my case and let me know if there's any flexibility here? Happy to provide my service tag and case details privately.
Thanks for your time.

I would like to note that after reaching out to the executive team, my issue was resolved quickly and fairly and I truly appreciate the support I received from Dell.
Taking care of a customer pays the company back multiple times over and I intend to do that with my continuing relationship with Dell.
This issue has been resolved, again, thank you to the Dell team
