new to DPA
Hi everyone,
I am totally new to dpa. Our environment is using DPA recently. I would like to learn this
Any expert here can share your experience to help me learn it quicker?
I already start reading the manual.
Your advice is much appreciated
Jim

Your posting is a little old but since nobody answered yet, I will give you my two cents on how to learn DPA.
Aside from the obvious way, which is a formal training, the best way is to read the Manuals (which you did already) and then start working on a proper DPA configuration. You should create View(s), Report Menus and Windows time that better fit the characteristics of your environment. For example on ours we run backups from 4PM to 9AM next day. We created then, a windows time exactly for that time frame.
After that you should check for what kind of information could be valuable for your organization and then check if DPA is capable of providing that info. You might have some of those requests already.
Finally you should start working on create the reports. The best starting point is using existing DPA reports and customizing them to better fix what you need.
At this point you can use some of the report customization online training available on Powerlink:
After login to Power link go to > Support > Product and Diagnostic Tools > Data Protection Advisor Support Demos
There you have two online training that you should follow: Report Customization #1 and Report Customization #2
Those will give you the basic knowledge on editing reports, you can start then exploring all the report's source and operators and see what they can give to you. If you have issues (and you will) creating your reports you can always post your question here, and most of the time you will get some help. In addition the report's sources and operator (as the DPA in general) have a decent on line help.
In other words Jim, you can learn DPA by working with DPA (same as always), just try that your learning curve goes through what will be valuable for your organization, in that way you can start getting value our of DPA while you are learning how to use it.
I hope that helps.
Enrique

Hello,
Please let me know if there is a Command Line Interface and a guide to using the CLI for DPA v5.8.0
For a start, I hope o use the CLI to read existing query definitions and create / define new queries.
Thank you,
